I feel it is of great benefit to an artist to understand what gives the things you are painting or drawing their appearance. For that reason I have done fairly extensive anatomy studies of the human body. All the little curves and bumps that are seen on the surface of the body are created by structures beneath the skin. To know these inner structures is to know what it is you are actually seeing.
